Aramide
"Aramide" is a yoruba name which means: "my people have come". Its no wonder critics and fans alike are quick to mention Aramide when it comes to the top musicians in Africa: Aramide has come.
Showing exceptional talent and promise at an early age, Aramide's teenage years saw her learn to play the saxophone and guitar while mastering the art of singing and songwriting. During her study of Political Science in the University of Jos, she rocked the stage of Star Quest, the premier TV talent show at the time and shortly thereafter began to pursue a solo career, recording and writing in earnest. Already known for her intimate stage performances which feature her guitar playing coupled with sultry vocals, Aramidewas introduced to a wider audience with her debut single's "It’s Over" and "I Don't Mind". Her following has grown as fans can hear the influence of Erykah Badu, Asa, Miriam Makeba, Sade, Angelique Kidjo and other greats emanating through her music in a soft, soulful blend which lends her voice the rich, distinct tones people remember her for. Aramide sings about love, betrayal, friendship and the joys and aches of womanhood while weaving between English, pidgin, and Yoruba.
